General & Getting Started
Who is DearBaby for?+
DearBaby is made for expecting mothers, fathers, partners, adoptive parents, and couples going through IVF or surrogacy. If you are waiting to meet a little one and want to preserve the journey, DearBaby is for you.
When is the best time to start?+
You can start at any stage of pregnancy! Many parents start at their very first positive test or early 6-to-8 week ultrasound, while others begin later in the second or third trimester. Every moment is worth saving.
Do I need to download an app from the App Store?+
No app store download is required! DearBaby works directly in your mobile browser. You can tap "Install App" or "Add to Home Screen" to install it as a Progressive Web App (PWA) with full-screen experience and zero storage bloat.
Privacy & Security
Are our photos and voice recordings truly private?+
Yes, absolutely. By default, every memory you create is 100% private and protected by Supabase Row Level Security (RLS). Only your authenticated account can view or edit them.
Do you sell our data or train public AI models on our ultrasound photos?+
Never. We believe family keepsakes are sacred. We do not sell personal data, display third-party advertisements, or train machine learning models on your intimate ultrasound photos or voice notes.
Can anyone on the internet find my memories?+
No. Private memories are strictly protected behind your login and are never indexed by search engines like Google.
Features & Recording
How does live audio recording work?+
You can record voice notes or monitor heartbeats directly inside your mobile browser with a single tap. DearBaby captures clean audio, provides a live recording timer, and automatically compresses it so it uploads quickly even on mobile data.
Can I share a memory with grandparents or my partner?+
Yes! When creating or editing a memory, you can set the visibility to "Unlisted". This generates a private secret link (e.g. dearbaby.online/m/...) that you can text or email to close family without requiring them to register an account.
Can I write letters if I don’t have a photo or audio?+
Yes. You can save a memory with just a heartfelt letter, just a photo, just an audio note, or all three combined. DearBaby is flexible to whatever you feel like documenting that day.
Account & Data Ownership
Can I delete a memory or delete my account?+
Yes. You have complete ownership of your data. You can delete individual memories at any time from your Memories timeline, or permanently delete your account from your Account settings.
How long are memories kept?+
Your memories are preserved safely in our cloud database for the long term, designed for you to open years down the road with your child.
